Coaching and mentoring programs are effective ways to develop staff in the 21st century organisation. As organisational structures have flattened there is less of the traditional career path for individuals and programs that support the expansion of role and individual ability replace what was once a climb up the organisational ladder.
Programs may be run in such a way that participants receive coaching from professional coaches. Alternatively this may be an opportunity to introduce coaching into the workplace and staff can take on the coaching role. With either approach there needs to be robust planning and support for successful execution on the program.
